The 2017 Cross Season has officially started. Most of us have been conditioning all Summer, at various routes and times. If you are new to us and/or running, that is no problem. We will bring you up to speed, quickly.
Once school is in session, (as of August 14th) our team practice locations and times will rarely vary.
Please review the following Frequently Asked Questions. If, after reading, you still have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Coach Lockrem.
What time should I arrive at Cross-Country practice, on school days?
We will begin at 3:30 pm on Monday, Thursday & Friday. 2:30 pm (early release) on Wednesday, of every week. Tuesday’s practices will start at 6:30 pm. (with the exception of our very first practice. see below)
Only the Freshman are in school on Monday, August 14th. Will there be practice that day?
Nope. Enjoy. Our first, school year practice will be on Tuesday, August 15th at 6:30.
During the summer, Track Tuesday practices were at night. Does that change during the school year?
Tuesday practices will remain the same. We will meet, on the track, at 6:30 pm , not 3:30 pm. Expect to be done around 7:30 pm.
If school isn’t in session (holiday, teacher work day, etc), will there be a practice?
Please subscribe to VNN (on the app store or online) for updates regarding changes and cancellations.
Where will we meet, for practice?
Unless otherwise noted, we will always meet on the track, at University High.
What should I wear? Bring?
Always be dressed in comfortable running clothes and shoes by 3:30. Please bring a water and a towel or mat. Anything else (snack, sports drink, favorite stuffed animal) is optional. Having a watch, even a non-gps one, would be highly advisable, as well.
An open mind, positive attitude, friendly smile, and willingness to work hard are also greatly appreciated.
How long will practice last, each day?
We will typically be there for 1-1.5 hours. If it is going to be greatly extended or reduced, we will do our best to give you advanced notice.
Is attending practice mandatory?
In short: yes.
Your personal, and our team’s, success will be strongly tied to our training. If you foresee a scheduling conflict, please speak to Coach Lockrem about it as soon as you’re able. Illness or injury will be adjusted for on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, you are required to have completed 10 team practices before competing in a meet.
Coach Thomas and Coach Lockrem are really looking forward to working and running with all of you, this season. The practices will be a great way to ensure good communication, gauge fitness, get to know your teammates and provide skills and tools for an amazing season. See you all on the track.
