Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Track Practice FAQs

The 2018 Track and Field season has officially started. Most of us have been conditioning since December, and regular practices begin January 22nd.

At this point, our team practice locations and times will rarely vary.

Please review the following Frequently Asked Questions. If, after reading, you still have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Coach Lockrem.

Note: This differs from our Meet Schedule, which can be accessed here . More information regarding those events can be found here.

What time should I arrive at Track practice, on school days?

We will begin at 3:30 pm on Monday, Thursday & Friday. 2:30 pm (early release) on Wednesday, of every week.

Please check the meet schedule, as there will not be practice on those dates. Any changes to this will be sent via VNN. Make sure you are subscribed.

Another method coaches and athletes will be using, for communication, is the GroupMe text app. If you are not a member, please see one of the coaches.

If school isn’t in session (holiday, teacher work day, etc), will there be a practice?

Coaches will post to VNN and the GroupMe app for updates regarding changes and cancellations.

Where will we meet, for practice?

Unless otherwise noted, we will always meet on the track, at University High.

What should I wear? Bring?

Always be dressed in comfortable running clothes and shoes by 3:30. Please bring a water. Anything else (snack, sports drink, favorite stuffed animal) is optional. Having a watch, even a non-gps one, would be highly advisable, as well.

An open mind, positive attitude, friendly smile, and willingness to work hard are also greatly appreciated.

How long will practice last, each day?

Practices are no longer than 2 hours, but are generally not much shorter than this. If it is going to be greatly reduced or extended, we will try to give you plenty of notice.

Is attending practice mandatory?

In short: yes.

Your personal, and our team’s, success will be strongly tied to our training. If you foresee a scheduling conflict, please speak to Coach Lockrem or Duoos about it as soon as you’re able. Illness or injury will be adjusted for on a case-by-case basis.

Coaches Lockrem, Duoos, Thomas, Eggert, and McMann are really looking forward to working, running, jumping and throwing with all of you, this season. The practices will be a great way to ensure good communication, gauge fitness, get to know your teammates and provide skills and tools for an amazing season. See you all on the track.

Go Titans!
