Titans News · Information for Incoming Freshman about Athletic Participation

University High School is excited to welcome our incoming freshman, the Class of 2025.  We know that many of you are potentially interested in participating on one of our athletic teams next year.

At this time, we are uncertain, what and when any summer activities (open gyms, conditioning, weight room, camps, etc.) will take place.  When those decisions are made, we will post that information here on the athletic website.

Additionally, as decisions are made about when and where fall sport try-outs are made, we will post information here as well.  Typically, we will not have those dates until June.

Most fall sports are tentatively scheduled to begin on August 2, 2021.  This date is subject to change by the FHSAA and will not be officially announced until after May 1, 2021.

To participate in any summer workout, open gym, conditioning or to tryout for a sport, an athlete must have completed all forms through FinalForms and must have turned in their sports physical to University High School. (Please note that if you had a sports physical for middle school sports, you would need to obtain that paperwork at the conclusion of the school year from your middle school and manually bring it to UHS.  That physical does not automatically transfer to UHS.)  All forms, except for the page the physician signs must be completed electronically.  You can find more information about FinalForms and our online paperwork here on this athletics webpage.  Please click “More” from the tabs above.  When completing your FinalForms paperwork, you will be prompted to select what sports you are potentially interested in participating with.

We will open registration for athletic teams for next year on May 1, 2021.  Please do not attempt to complete your paperwork until that time.  You will not be able to sign up for specific sports until that time.

Please note that Volusia County Schools and AdventHealth will once again partner to offer free sports physicals for high school students on June 3, 4, and 5.  More information will be posted on the VCS website and our website, when that information becomes available.  UHS students will need to have their FinalForms paperwork completed before attending that free opportunity.

We also suggest reaching out via email to the Head Coach of any sport you are hoping to participate with so that they can provide any updates or share information about how they communicate with athletes and families.  You can find that information on each sports team page on the website.
